Cactus Beach, South Australia

We arrived in Penong, SA and were looking for the turn off to Cactus Beach...there isn't one.  We believe this was because it is a secluded spot, not for the light hearted, only for those who are after adventure!   I think Cactus Beach was our favourite spot!  It is secluded, quiet, untouched, pristine, unpopulated, hard core, not mainstream and absolutely beautiful!  Here we camped completely free from the world and with the original surfers of Australia.  Cactus Beach is a protected surfing reserve lobbied by the surfers themselves.

Here we just hung out together for about 4 days, no power, limited water and fresh air!  We read books, cut hair, fished, watched sunsets and played music by the camp fire.  We were treated to so much wild life ... the highlight was the western brown snake stalking, catching and eating his prey, a sand lizard!  We slept with the doors all sealed up that night!
